Test kit brand quality is a source of much debate. Generally, you get what you pay for with test equipment. Always use test kits which are not expired to ensure accuracy. For reefs, ammonia, nitrate, pH, alkalinity and calcium are the standard test parameters. Iodine, strontium, and magnesium are good to test as well. Test for silica and phosphate if you have algae problems.
