Aquarium acclimating of any new additions to your fish tank whether it is a new fish, coral, and / or anything that is considered “alive” to your aquarium is considered to one of the most important first steps that can be done to ensure a smooth transition from the local fish store to your tank.
Acclimation is always a better choice than risking the health and possibly the life of fish, corals or invertebrates, such as shrimp and crabs, which are sensitive to any rapid water parameter changes. Proper acclimation methods such as the drip method will take a little time, 30 minutes to 1 hour, and will greatly reduce the possibility of having to watch any new fish or other marine livestock struggle and or die after you get them home.
