Soft Coral Grow, 3 oz., Marc Weiss Aquarium Products.
Soft Coral Grow, the only soft coral growth enhancer thats backed by hard science. Enhances ability of soft corals and polyps to nourish themselves as they do in nature. Economical natural dry formula not fish food dissolved in water containing biocidal preservatives that can damage beneficial microorganisms and zooxanthellae.
Obvious results, usually within two weeks.
Hastens growth of frags and cuttings. Non polluting excess consumed by skimmer. Soft corals and polyps primarily eat detrital aggregates colonized by beneficial bacterioplankton adhering to their copious mucus layer. There's also a fungal element to the symbiotic mix. These organisms farm their own food in their mucus layer. Soft corals are carnivorous and high-protein microbes support growth and health in them. Soft corals do not appear to digest phytoplankton (algae) but there appears to be a positive response to their dissolved remains. They are nourished through their mucus envelope via the by-products of bacterioplankton.
Zooplankton are sparse in nature and make up a small amount of the soft coral's nutritional intake. Bacteria in the mucus layer are required to degrade it first. In time, the bacterioplankton fix and reduce nitrates produced by this rotting. These large pieces of coral nutrients are adding to the pollution in the aquarium until it's consumed. Bacterial enriched coral mucus also contains beneficial organisms that may eat, crowd out or provide antibiotic by-products against pathogens. Soft Coral Grow provides a biofilm that adheres to and enhances the corals mucus layer. This biofilm provides an enhanced environment for increased bacterioplankton colonization allowing soft corals ands polyps to feed them-selves more efficiently. Feeding with coral foods may become unnecessary. This eliminates pollution caused by excess food. The use of the appropriate trace elements and water conditioners should be continued. Soft Coral Grow is a natural cultured detrital aggregate and algal colloids with no biocidal preservatives, as are needed in liquid coral foods. Results are usually seen within two weeks.
Directions: Amount used depends on bioload which is the quantity of soft corals and polyps in the aquarium. A starting guide is one-half teaspoon per hundred gallons every other day. Heavily stocked aquariums can consume one teaspoon or more daily. Excess will be picked up by the skimmer. Mix portion to be used in some reef aquarium water and pour into an area with current. It's not important that all of it initially dissolves.
Contents: 6 oz., 170.4 grams of controlled cultured detrital aggregate and marine algal colloids. Store in a cool, dry place after opening. Tighten cap well. A refrigerator is ideal. Avoid extended freezing
