Question: I have a long narrow pond about 300 gallons. I need to replace the circulating pump and am thinking of the Danner WP-DM02718. Any comments?
Answer: Excellent pump, especially for pond use as they are very rugged and reliable. The main recommendation would be to use the pump in a submersed application for best results.

Question: I bought my first S.W. aquarium already established, it is a 35 gal tank, and I have noticed that during the lighting hours a Rusty Brown colored algae growns on the surface of the sand, my Red General Starfish is also starting to turn this color, what could I do to stop this algae outbreak. My light is set on a timer for 8 hours a day, and the algae dissapears when there is NO source of light hitting the tank. I appreciate your advice
Answer: How old are the light bulbs? The bulbs should be replaced every 8 to 12 months, depending upon the type of bulb. From the description, the algae sounds like a bacteria, that could be caused by by relocating the aquarium, causing the bacteria in the filtration system to re-establish itself. Physically siphon off the algae if possible as well when performing a small water change.

Question: Is the No-Ich medication really reef safe? Also can I add more substrate (aragonite) to an established reef tank?
Answer: Yes, the No-Ich is reef safe, but with any medication, I would use with caution. Yes you can add aragonite to an existing sand bed. I would use live sand or sand that is thoroughly rinsed to avoid clouding the water.
